Starting Over

So let me explain.  I had just picked up some developed pictures from Costco on Friday, and we were getting extended family pictures done the next day.  I was looking at the most recent pictures of Buster and thinking that his hair was looking a little overgrown.  So I thought to myself, "Certainly I could trim it a little, and he would look much better."

After his bath I combed through his hair and got to work.  And I made his hair pretty weird.  I would lie, but the proof is in the pictures taken.  I tried to mess it up a little with a lot of gel, but it still looked weird.  Then on Sunday, it looked even worse.  I wasn't sure what to do.  I had a talk with Little H who agreed that she would take the fall on this one if anyone asked at church, but that was just a short term solution.  Dan kept making fun of Buster's hair, and I decided to pick up the scissors again.  I couldn't make it any worse, right?  Wrong.

So we made a late evening trip to my parents' house so my mom could shave it down.  I know I should be worried about his hair losing all it's curl as it grows back in, but honestly I was holding on much too tightly to that dream.  Confession: His hair had started to straighten out six months ago.  I have been putting extra effort and gel and hairspray into maintaining the curls for that long.  It's time to let it go and embrace my now bald baby boy.  Sigh.
