What Daddies Say...
This morning Little H was helping me sort through some old greeting cards when she started singing to herself. I picked up that she was singing "The Wheels on the Bus" and started singing along with her. She told me she had learned the song in nursery, and I was impressed at how much she remembered.
We got through the different verses, you know, the wheels go round, the driver says "move on back", the babies go "wah", and the mommies go "shhhh". That's when I realized how sexist the song really was. Where were the daddies? What where they doing in the middle of all this chaos? (Actually, I didn't really think about the sexist connotations of the preschooler song until just now, I just couldn't remember if dads were mentioned.)
So I asked H what the daddies said. And without pause she replied, "The daddies say 'don't touch that or you'll go to timeout.'"
Of course we had to add that verse to the song so Dan wouldn't feel left out. I'm sure he appreciated it. I was just glad the mommies already had something to say. I wouldn't want to hear her version.

too funny! and she is so stinkin' cute... and looks so much older. can't wait to see you this weekend.
