Lavender Days

Friday night we trekked down to Nicole's house to spend the night before the big day.  It took us awhile to get there because my mom and sisters kept running us around in circles.  (It's my blog and I'll tell it how I want to.)

The day started out with a 5K through the lavender fields.  Sounds relaxing and beautiful?  Maybe for the young-at-heart and physically-fit, of which I am neither.  I was joined by all three sisters, Talia and my brother-in-law, Ben.  There was no way I was going to be outpaced by a seven-year-old this time.  No, this time it was a 65-year old farmer wearing a baseball cap, a black t-shirt, and Wranglers.  Not kidding.  At first I thought maybe he was chasing down some escaped livestock, but then I saw his race bib and was immediately shamed.  I did end up beating him by one second, so I technically get the bragging rights. Hah!  In your face older man!

Unfortunately, I don’t have any pictures from the actual race because I neglected to check the batteries in my camera before we left.  Just picture me looking really tired and sweaty, and I probably wouldn’t post such a disgusting picture of myself anyway.  Here are some post-race pictures of my accomplices taken at my sister’s house, though.  (Ben’s picture is pulled from archives because he dodged us to shower.)

After that, we went back for the continuing Lavender Days celebration and were joined by Dan, Little H, my parents, Josh, and Lissa.  Josh and Lissa were nice enough to take their nieces on the big, bouncy slide.  (I’ve also included this picture of my dad, completely emasculated holding Lissa’s purse—he's the one on the left.)

And this kind Hispanic man was nice enough to take Little H on a pony ride.

It was lots of fun, complete with scented ponds, fairies, slushes, craft booths, gardens, jousting and wild west shows!  Who knew there was such a cool place to visit in the U.C.?  If I hadn’t seen so many BYU shirts and caps I might have lost that sick-to-my-stomach feeling altogether.  Go Utes!

Hmm, I'm pretty sure I wasn't doing the driving or the missing of the two(2)Santaquinn(?)exits. Of course, the excuse to go see exactly where Mona was, was pretty good.
