The Big Run

Okay, so we didn't exactly "run" the whole time, and we didn't "win" any medals (the one in the picture is just a borrowed prop), but we finished, and that's all that really matters, right?  Right?  And we did it in only — minutes.  (I did that on purpose, so you can fill in the blanks yourself-20 minutes? 30 minutes? 40 minutes?)

Hey, we're lucky we survived.  Talia's asthma kicked in, I got dirt under my contact, and toward the end, Talia tried to drink water through her nostrils.  So at one point I was running blindly down the street, tears streaming out of my left eye, just doing my best to follow the sound of Talia gargling water through her nose.  I thought, "Man, I'm going to run straight into a busy intersection and get hit by a car, and Talia is going to drown right next to me."  But no matter what, we managed to run like champs when we saw the cameras.

This little girl was our nemesis throughout the race.  As soon as we would pass her, she would shoot ahead out of nowhere!  Looking back, I probably shouldn't have tripped her and pushed her into the bushes. (Not really, and of course she beat us soundly.)

Anyway, I'd like to thank everyone who helped make this possible, 1800contacts, and we'll see you next week at the Lavender Days 5k in Mona.

You crack me up!!! I look forward to your posts. I agree with Gretchen...maybe you missed your calling as a novelist. I know, you could do a 18th century scottish novel

Let's see,...The blind bonney young maiden gasped for air as she strained to keep running through the flowered glen. Her dearest friend, beside her urged her on," Faster Heather, yon wee little yellow-headed lass is gaining on us,"....I don't know Trinity, I don't think I'd read it.
